CCM enters 2022 with a new iteration in the Tacks AS line: the Tacks AS-V. The Tacks AS-V shin guards stick to and enhance the basics with many of its features and upgrades, including D3O foam, a JDP kneecap design, an EVA foam FlexMotion thigh guard, and ADPTFit strappings. The improved Anatomical Shield Design aims to provide premium comfort and coverage for the elite-level player.

Shin Protection
The shin cap has been made of tough PE plastic and engineered with an Anatomical Shield Design for max coverage and comfort. To combat wear and tear that tends to occur near the bottom of the pad, CCM also implemented an abrasion-resistant bottom pad, reinforced with D3O foam. The pad and D3O ensure not just more durability in that area, but also more security near your ankles. In addition, underneath the kneecap is a groove fit for your tape.

Knee Cap & Protection
The knee area uses D3O foam, a JDP kneecap design, and a protective comfort donut on the inside to keep your knees secure while you play. These features both enhance protection and keep everything in place. The JDP design specifically disperses impact force away from the knee, while the D3O soaks up any extra impact force that manages to sneak through. The comfort donut on the inside liner provides supplemental space for your knee and keeps it further away from the impact point while simultaneously holding everything in place.

Calf Protection
The AS-V is equipped with a shot block shield coupled with D3O foam that wraps snugly around the calf to absorb and disperse force on impact. There is often not enough padding here on most gear, although adding extra padding can sometimes hinder movement. On the AS-V, however, they have added a calf shield with a rounded anatomical shape to wrap seamlessly around your leg. Combined with the soft cushioning and liner on the inside, the shield can further mold nicely around your leg.

Liner
The inside ADPTFit sublimated removable liner has been cut and proportioned to fit along your leg, coinciding with the Anatomical Shield Design of the shin guards. With this design, the pads can fit snugly to your leg, increasing both comfort and protection. Extra removable padding has also been included at the bottom of the liner. This cushion is meant to protect that area in place of the skate tongue for added security if you prefer to play with the tongues of your skates out. In the case that you prefer playing tongues in, you can simply remove the cushion, and your skate tongues should fit nicely right under the pad. The donut cutout around the knee portion of the liner helps keep impact even further away from the knee.

Strapping
The pads come with a fully adjustable dual calf strap and a Hyper X lock strap for a perfect, snug fit around your shins. The double strap is designed to contour around your calf comfortably, and the length can be adjusted in both directions depending on your preferences. The Hyper X lock strap is made with a high-tensile nylon weave for superior durability.
